Enum Constant Details
-
RUNNING
The task is running. If this is a child-less task, it means that there is a thread on one of the nodes that executes this task. (An exception is when a node crashes. Then previously running tasks are left in "running" state - until the state is updated by some of the remaining nodes.) For tasks with children, the RUNNING state means that either this task is executing in a thread, or any of its children (transitively) is running. This is to ensure that user sees the task states consistently. -
RUNNABLE
The task is ready to be executed by the scheduler. It just waits either for the defined time to come, or for available thread or node to execute the task. -
WAITING
The task is waiting, typically for some other task. Note that this DOES NOT cover parent tasks waiting for their running children. Such parents are in RUNNING state as well. Also, if all children are suspended, then the parent is suspended as well. -
SUSPENDED
The task has been suspended. It waits until resumed. -
CLOSED
The task is done. No other changes or progress will happen. The task in this state is considered immutable and the only things that can happen to it is a delete by a cleanup code.
